Gardens The Montessori Way

Our Community Montessori Children's House has a farm-to-school program!

The Children's House at Community Montessori is part of the Farm to Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, a nutritional education program.  Farm to ECE gives children, ages 1-5, a chance to learn about healthy, local foods.  The program includes activities such as gardening, cooking, tasting, farmer visits and nutrition lessons.

Boulder County Health is supporting local child care programs to start Farm to ECE programs. This includes partnering with Boulder County Farmers Market, Boulder County Master Gardeners, and many other community groups to improve your child's food experience at school.

Green Star School

Community Montessori is very proud to have been chosen as a Green Star School. Joining other schools throughout Boulder County, we have partnered with Eco-Cycle to move toward Zero Waste through increased recycling, the implementation of composting, and special waste reduction activities.

You will notice multiple bins in your child's classroom for separating recyclables and for composting. In addition, as a part of the Green Star program, we are working towards zero waste for school functions, including purchasing compostable papergoods and sorting our waste.

Please use this program as a jumping-off point to discuss recycling with your child at home and the rules for your area.

You can visit the Green Star website for more information.
