Assessment & Testing

    State Assessments

State assessment begin in March and go through April.

PARCC (Partnerships for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) Assessment
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a computer/paper-based assessment for third to fifth grade. These assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy give teachers, schools, students and parents additional information as to whether students are on track in their learning. The state testing website, which includes more specific information regarding PARCC is: http://www.cde.state.co.us/assessment.

The testing schedule, depending on whether a student has additional assessment requirements (i.e. English as a second language) will occur primarily in the spring semester. The school staff is committed to limiting interference in classroom teaching while ensuring that testing requirements are met and adjustment to student's learning plans can be made based on the results. The testing regime is viewed as a tool to further our overall goal of best meeting the children's long-term educational goals.

    ACCESS Testing

Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State (ACCESS) is a state assessment for English Language Learners.  Students who are learning English and are not yet proficient will participate in this state assessement sometime between mid January and mid February.  This test includes both written and oral components.  ACCESS results provide valuable information to teachers about the progress students are making in learning English.

Please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast before school and be prepared to demonstrate what they know on the assessment.
